Sry I have been so MIA lately. We have been so into the baby that I have had little time for else.
My dp really made labor look easy. They had us stay overnight to monitor her bp even tho her contractions were 2-4 min apart they wanted to send us home. So the next morn our ob came in to examine her and she was still only 3.5 cm apart and 50% effaced like the night before. The dr said to go home and come back on Thurs in the office to see how she was progressing (this was on a tues). As she said this she asked if she felt something wet, the doc took another peek and her water broke in the drs hand. Her water broke at 7:30 and Samantha was born at 1:36. They started the pitocin and she was so tough that it looked easy. We had 6 ppl total just hanging out during labor very casually talking, eating, watching tv, and joking. She knew she wanted the epidural but didn’t need it until the last hour. We had everyone leave but me when the pushing began. They had her do a practice push and quickly realized dp needed no practice at all! She pushed through 4 contractions and only for 12 minutes before our beautiful daughter entered the world. I am so proud of my dp and can’t believe she created our amazing little girl. Life since then has been serene. While we have had to get up and are lacking sleep at times it is all worth it. I have nannied for 7 yrs so we are pretty confident in our childcare skills and fell into a routine quickly. We are both pumping, I’m so proud to say that I am getting between 3-4 oz per pump and I have even weaned down my dom. (We were the talk of the hospital lol) She is already taking 4 oz every 4 hrs and is on a static 10:00, 2:00, 6:00 schedule.
Everyone tells you that you won’t do all of the things you did before kids but what they don’t explain is that you won’t want to.
