Yep. Luckily i am not very hairy in general so my downstairs is low maintainence.

Also i am not sure i would do it solely for someone else...i do it for me and it is really more trimming...would never go crazy prepubescent looking or anything...

yep, no hair whatsoever. It was wierd ten years ago I thought only strippers did that sort of thing. Then I came out as a lesbian and realized it was not a naughty thing. I use to have a landing strip but for six years nada. Now I feel icky if I have gone more than three days without shaving. I would give it a try and I bet you like it better.

Yep...no hair at all...have for about 13 yrs. It will be itchy at first when it grows out but the longer you do it the better it gets. It just feels cleaner to me and appreciate the same in my DP. I always kinda wondered those stats jdiana. I always feel bad for my OB that she might have to deal with a bunch of nasty women everyday but I guess she knew what she was getting into when she chose that career...lol. I used to work with a NP who had crazy stories of women shaving dollar signs into their area and dying them green...all sorts of craziness!

I do both ..... trim and shave.
When I'm pregnant/postpartum, and I know alot attention will be in that area, I tend to do a full shave as late into pregnancy as I can (at some point it becomes next to impossible). As well, OB/GYNs do appreciate a little tidiness for annual check ups (it can be pretty hard to check for skin conditions if the skin is covered in a dense layer of hair).
I also tend to do a full shave more in the summer, when there's greater chance for bikini wearing.
    Otherwise, I normally trim.

I'll warn you though, when shaving, I always go through an itchy phase when it grows back. I know others on this forum (in previous conversations) have said that they don't experience this problem, but I do. A full shave also leads to a more extreme feeling of wetness (discharge, etc).

We both do. It's just a personal preference.

Wendy- have you tried moisturizing after you shave and every night before going to bed? Also, you have to shave with the way your hair grows. I have noticed a big change in irritation from moisturizing.

I have super sensitive skin, so I tend not to shave all of it. Even my legs are itchy from shaving (and I do moisturize often), so "she" tends to be pretty unbearable after a full shave. We both, however, do trim and maintain. We literally have a pair of scissors in the shower for just this purpose, haha. My coworkers recently started jumping on the waxing bandwagon, and I would consider it if it didn't require maintenance + money. Anyway, neither one of us has a preference for how the other landscapes down there, so whatever we feel like doing is fine. :)

"not i" said the fly. at least not all the time. i have been known to do it for special occasions (a man in my bed sometimes, a doctor's appointment), but it's definitely not something i am willing to keep up at all times. the trimming and maintenance i can do, just not the full baldness. i've dated guys who prefer it both ways -- those who prefer the baldness and those who prefer 70s porn ('nuff said). it does seem to be the more common thing to do now, though, whereas i remember as late as 2000, 2001, it was considered a somewhat exotic thing. remember the movie american pie, when the kid is fascinated that the girl comes from brazil (i think) completely shaved? i also remember a sex in the city episode when it was a big deal that they were getting a "brazilian wax" because they were in brazil. at that time, it was considered an exotic thing, and so i did it then. i like to be on the cutting edge (no pun intended). but now? not so much. anyway, i digress. lol.

I use a beard trimmer to knock the forest down to a well manicured lawn, then use a razor to clean up around the edges and my labia, as I prefer them to be smooth, but I do not want to look pre-pubescent either. So a quick trim does me just fine for keeping it landscaped, the beard trimmer is impossible to cut yourself with, you can do it by feel rather then having to see it, and, well, it just works well for us!

I get a wax once a month. My skin would be a red, bumpy, painful mess if I ever tried to use a razor. I do go longer in between waxes if I'm not seeing anyone and it is winter and the beard trimmer is very helpful for those times. For me, waxing is 100% the way to go. Oh - and I do the landing strip others have mentioned.

I follow in Goobie's footsteps. Cordless beard trimmer here. Then I do a little clean up around the edges with a razor, if necessary. I had a professional waxing years ago that burned the crap out of my nether regions. I peeled for weeks. Not fun. So I went back to the beard trimmer.

Jdiana, I have also wondered often what the stats were as seen by an OB/GYN. Thank you for sharing that!

AFM, I have found through trial and error that I prefer to keep it neatly trimmed quite short, and I shave around the legs and at the top (abdomen line?). Like Shaeley Mae mentioned, if it's all gone (or for me, even super short) the feeling of extra moisture is unpleasant, so I don't prefer that. I have a women's razor that has a trimmer on the other end that has 3 length settings, that works great. It was inexpensive, is completely waterproof so I can use it in the shower, and I can use it for all shaving.

And for bumps, redness, itching - I use a product called Bikini Zone afterwards and it has proven to be worth it's weight in gold! They have a shave gel and an after shave, but I only use the aftershave. I have absolutely NO problems with any of the aforementioned, not even itching if I go a few days in between when I use Bikini Zone.
After 9 yrs & 1 devastating loss, we got our BFP at 9DPO ~ and welcomed our beautiful son on Halloween! Best treat ever!!

Add me to the monthly manicure list. I like a little maintenance to, as Goobie put it, "knock the forest down to a well-manicured lawn." LOL!

I would love to have the laser hair removal for that area, my underarms, legs, eyebrow line, lips and chin. I think I'll have to win the lottery before that happens :)

I did laser removal in the bikini area (4 treatments I think). It lasted 100% for like 30 days, and then slowly started growing back. Within a year I was totally back to normal.
And the clinic advised me in advance, and even had me sign paperwork acknowledging that there is no such thing as permanent hair removal.

I used to do the exact same wax routine as Shanny. After adding up the cost of waxing for a year, I decided to take advantage of a laser hair removal 50% off summer special. I think it's 9 treatments total. I started the treatments before getting pregnant and was only 4 treatments in when we conceived G. I just started back on my treatments a few months ago and I'd say after a good year and a half of not having treatments, I had about a 50% hair loss in the treated area. Plus, the regrowth was much thinner and easier to shave (where I could never shave before or I experienced horrendous skin issues). If I need maintenance treatments after my initial 9, I pay a deductible that's about equivalent to the cost of waxing. I don't anticipate needing maintenance more than once a year, if even, to start out...and eventually I hope to be maintenance free. :D

So, um, for the trimmers - is there a particular brand of beard trimmer you prefer? I was talking to, um, A FRIEND about this, and that friend wants to know because she has been contorting herself into some interesting positions to try to trim with scissors, but has a hard time sometimes because THE FRIEND has weight to lose and has had a few kids, and has worried that there have been some slightly effed up trimming going on down there.

Luckily, it hasn't affected the friend's sex life. ;) But still.

Mel - for you FRIENDS info - I had one of my ex's beard trimmers that I used for years. When that finally died not too long ago I bought a Lady Remington. Model WPG 2000. Hope this helps out your FRIEND :)

I'm afraid to wax cuz I used that product "nads" down there once and I bled some... I have thick hair. I would love something that lasts longer than a shave! How embarrassing is it to get waxed? I would love to get the laser hair removal all over!

i would never, ever, EVER get a full brazilian - i think DH might actually kill me. i might get a wax just to remove the hairs that would show with a swimsuit on if i'm going on a beach vacation, and once in a long while i'll trim things short out of boredom, but most the time i don't wax, shave, or trim. of course, i also haven't shaved my underarms since i was 17 and went years without shaving my legs (not even for my wedding!) so i'm pretty comfortable with body hair in general.
TTC since September 2007 - 8 donor insems in 2012, all BFN. DH had varicocele repair #2 1/3/14.
It worked! Two clomid cycles and two IUI's with injectables all BFN, on to IVF! 3dt of 2 perfect embryos on 12/15/14, BFP 7dp3dt! Frederick Lars born at 37 weeks on 8/15/15!! FET for #2 on 9/29/16 - BFP 5dp5dt!! Bertram Wilder and Mabel Moon born at 28.4 weeks on 3/29/17!

Waxing isn't that bad. I think an eye brow wax is a tad more painful than a bikini wax. I would be sure to find a reputable spa/salon and ask for an aesthetician that has a lot of experience.

I wax my bikini area. Always have. My Mom was a professional ballerina all my life and now teaches, she always waxed everything and taught my sister and I how to. I also have a friend that is an aestetician so she takes care of me now. I don't find it very expensive, I pay $25 every 6 weeks or so.

I am German/Italian and we are blessed with lots of dark hair...everywhere. HA! My skin is also super sensitive around my bikini area and shaving has always been an issue. With waxing I don't have any issues and have to worry about it far less. I also don't find it painful and would in fact rate an eye brow wax higher on the uncomfortable scale.

Mel - we use a ConAir mens beard trimmer, came with different attatchments for nose, eyebrows etc... and yes, the little attatchments can help get into different spots! I could use the trimmer even nine months pregnant when I could not not see my woohoo, just did it by feel!

For those with itching, putting anti-persperant on the area after shaving is supposed to really help with irritation because it closes those pores up right away - I find it works a bit when I remember to do it!

Note to self: buy men's wet shaver for shower and stop trying to barricade bathroom door with my butt so Justin won't walk in on me and be scarred for life. (I took the locking doorknob off when Justin thought it was funny to lock the bathroom door with him on the inside a couple years ago.)

LOL @ Kari! That is too funny!

I got a beard trimmer - and mowed the lawn, trimmed the forest. I waited until Maggie was out of the house.

Might have to look into the wet shaver.
