Holy cow....this is actually happening!

I am starting a new Montessori Elementary school in Dallas!

I've been researching and planning for about 6 months (after spending a few months trying to get her current school to expand without success). Now the hard part of raising money, marketing etc starts. Will begin in 2016 if everything goes according to plan.

Wish me luck, I haven't done anything this brave since I decided to become a single mother!

Thanks everyone. Merilung that's awesome. Which age level do you think you'd get certified in?

Babybaby- ask away. I'll do my best though I'm certainly no expert (shhhh).

I'd almost definitely go for a Primary 3-6 certification, but I'd like to finish a bachelor's degree first. With a baby on the way I doubt I'll be speeding through my bachelors, so I have lots of time to think it all over! ;)

Keep us updated as you make progress with your school! I'm excited for you and can't wait to hear all about it.

Thanks Merilung. Yes, a bachelors will definitely helped in getting a great teaching job after you have your certification. I would do A to I (I think) if I ever actually got my certification. Primary is definitely the most plentiful jobs out there but elementary trained guides are hard to come by so that's not a bad choice either!

When you have your little one there are lots of montessori homeschooling groups out there!

Thank you for all of the support and encouragement!

I swear it is like I had another child. I haven't slept in months and every time the school reaches a new milestone I get all teary and overwhelmed (in a good way) that I am doing this! haha, sound familiar!?!?

That is awesome! As a public school teacher, I can't tell you how many times I've thought of starting my own school. The way my kindergartners are expected to learn is completely inappropriate developmentally and not at all the way I would want my own child to experience school. I do what I can to give them what they need while following the regulations, but I can only do so much. Congrats on accomplishing this!
Luca Gabriel was born 10/25/17 at 34 weeks, due to PROM. He's healthy and perfect! I'm in love!

You're one brave lady! I admire your drive. I'm working on a consulting level with a public school that is transitioning to Montessori. I'm trained I children's house level and lower elementary Montessori AMS. It's one of my passions and I just love to see the transformation in the adults as they work with the children and see them in a different way.

I wish you all the luck in the world!! You got this!!
