Our little girl, Rose, made her entry into the world on the morning of February 25th. It was a pretty rough delivery but thankfully it was shorter than I had anticipated. I labored at home for about 7 hours during early labor before heading to the hospital where it took another 12 hours (11.5 hours of laboring and 30 minutes of actual pushing). She weighed in at 7lbs 15 oz and was 20.25 inches tall. We're completely in love with her.

The recovery has been a bit hard as I have a second degree tear and lots of rather uncomfortable stitches. And breastfeeding has been incredibly difficult. Our poor little girl lost about 10% of her original body weight within 3 days so our pediatrician sent us to a lactation consultant. Our lactation consultant explained that I have a lack of mammary glands in my breasts so we've been keeping a ridiculous schedule of feedings, pumping sessions, and supplementing with formula to try to help her regain the weight. Any suggestions on ways to increase breastmilk supply would be much appreciated.

    Congrats!

I also had issues and had to supplement for awhile until I got my supply up. Lactation cookies, Mothers Milk tea, oatmeal, and Gattorade help me the most. And relaxing. Seriously though, I cannot miss my daily Gattorade or I pump less. So weird. I also pumped a lot. Every hour. Now I don't have to worry about it as much, but it was super hard in the beginning. You got this, though :)

Oh. Get Brewers Yeast and put it in as many things as you can.

Congratulations!! I also made lactation cookies with brewers yeast and I'd also add a little to beverages and I think it helped my supply.

Congratulations! Hopefully all the previous suggestions have helped begin to increase your milk supply. Breastfeeding is HARD! I breastfed both my girls & struggled with my supply as well... don't be afraid to supplement with formula, "fed is best" as the saying goes. Best wishes!

congrats!! thats a great weight and 7 oz is not horrible for loss. some babies lose up to a lb from all the pooing they do and slow milk coming in. just nurse often and dont switch sides since thats all foremilk )thinner less fatty milk) when you switch too soon. the longer baby stays on one breast the fattier the milk.

mother milk tea and oatmeal is my recommendation too. you can also use domperidone from inhousepharmacy.vu if you have lactation issues. I used it when I had a preemie. went from 1oz to 5 ox in a couple days. I stayed on it for a couple yrs :)
