Our story

Ok...Here is our story.
I met my husband through my childhood best friend. She is actually married to my husband's younger brother. For most of the first year of our relationship he was overseas in Afghanistan so conception was not really a main priority. I knew from the beginning that he had a vasectomy about 7 years prior when he was still with his ex wife. I always knew I wanted to have kids so this made me a little uneasy but I loved him so much and we clicked so well that I decided we would cross that bridge when we came to it.

After a year of being together we decided to see a fertility specialist while he was home on leave so we could start looking at our options. We did all the testing and we both checked out wonderful. The only issue that stood in our way of getting pregnant was his vasectomy. We decided that the best option for us would be IVF using his sperm that they would get through MESA. We saved up the money and were planning on doing it at the end of 2011 while he was home on his winter leave in January.

Well, we found out that he would be coming home for good in October. YAY!!! The down side was that a month after he got home we would have to be in Texas for his transfer.....we had to use all the money we saved for IVF to move and furnish a bigger house. We were both ok for a few months and then we started really getting sad about not having plans of a pregnancy in our near future. We sat down and had a talk and my husband suggested maybe using donor sperm to try and get pregnant now since it is less expensive then IVF and hopefully we can save the money in the next 2 years for IVF. This would be nice if we could have 2 children in the next 3 or so years. Who knows....the doctor told me that IVF could even most likely give me multiples lol.

So, I had been researching and looking at NWcryo for a while and we decided to put in an order for December. I was suppose to O on christmas eve and I thought to myself that may be a sign. I decided to have the swimmers come early so I would have more then enough time to get things ready. I was testing with both strips and an OPK to make sure all the bases are covered. All of a sudden to my surprise I had an LH surge 4 days before predicted O! Fortunately our swimmers were due the next day.

I did the first AI as soon as the swimmers arrived which would have been approximately 30 hours past surge and then again a few hours later which would have been exactly 36 hours past surge. We had ordered 3 vials originally because we figured we would do 12, 24, and 36 past +OPK. Since I surged early we decided we were going to send one vial back and store it. Then to our surprise I had some major EWCM the next day. We decided just to cover our bases we would use the last one just to make sure the EWCM didn't mean I was O a day later then normally expected after a surge.

Now we are in our TWW and have 8 days left until we can test. Just a day or 2 ago my wonderful husband started telling me he thinks I'm PG. He has noticed me being more weepy and "different" and moody. Plus I have had a bit of queasy feelings come and go, a bit of tender breasts, and my pelvis has had pressure and dull cramps. I'm trying not to get my hopes up and I keep trying to remind my husband to do the same...but I think he is already pretty convinced lol. I'm hoping for beginners luck, but it will remain to be seen in a little over a week. The thing that is giving us a little hope is that there are a bunch of posts where women have mentioned success with our donor and a bunch of them were success on the first cycle. I just keep praying that there is a little bean forming and it is holding on tight. Only time will tell....literally.

If not we will just try again next cycle.

P.S. I will always be a little nervous even if we get a BFP because I already had a MC in 2009.

Well...then its pretty much the same. We are using donor sperm, if that doesn't work we are going to have to try assisted IUI or IVF....but we decided my husband is also going to try and get a micro reversal for him.

Ok, so here is an update. That attempt in December lead to a BFP. Unfortunately it ended up being a chemical PG that I lost very early on. So, we decided we would just try again. Then we hit some financial struggle and decided to take some time off to build up our savings again. As soon as we were ready to start trying again....we found out my DH was heading back overseas to Afghanistan and we would be relocating back to PA. Now I am in PA and he is in Afghanistan. It is time to try again....I'm suppose to ovulate in just a few days and the shipment is scheduled to arrive Tuesday. I am doing everything I possibly can. Temping, checking cervical position and feel, drinking grapefruit juice, taking prenatals....and POS to pick up a surge. I'm hoping this is the cycle that is successful. If we were to succeed this month...my due date would be on my oldest stepson's bday. If not, next month we will try again. After that it is on to DA IUI. I'll update in a week or 2
