HELP-Should I send my vials back???

Hi I'm on CD12 (of a 25 day cycle) and yesterday afternoon I did ICI at home because I had signs of ovulation such as strong ferning from saliva test (which was strong for the 2 days before also), open cervix, and stretchy cm.

Now today when I did the saliva test there is barely any ferning, I still have negative OPK, and my cervix doesn't feel as soft although it seems still open and cm is still stretchy (but I'm not sure since I only started checking my cervix this week and never felt it before).

So now I'm worried that I have missed my ovulation, that it was earlier than I thought... (according to all ovulation calendars ovulation is today). At first I was thinking that my ovulation is late because of all the stress of worrying about this whole process of ICI and timing, etc... but now that my ferning is so weak I'm not sure what to do- plus I never got a smiley at all...I didn't start OPK until CD8 and now I'm thinking I should have started on CD6 just to have been sure that I didn't miss it and now I don't know...

So I was thinking that I should just send back my remaining 2 vials cause I don't want to waste them if I already missed ovulation and who knows, maybe the ICI yesterday will result in a miracle.

But, if I ignore the ferning saliva test, then maybe my ovulation is late and the surge can still happen? I'm not sure how likely this is...

I'm feeling discouraged and confused.

Also what happens when you send back vials? How do I know they will survive the trip back? Dewar arrived on Monday so it should be ok until Monday so if I return it by then will the swimmers still be ok? And anyone know about storage at NW when you send them back?........... or should I just keep them, insert them anyway, and toss this up to a learning experience?

I really think it's up to you. You followed your body's signs and insemmed, which I think was a great idea. I would say to definitely send the remaining vials back IF you no longer have those tell-tale signs. If you feel like you would be wasting money by using the vials, then send them back. Sorry I can't help more.

It is a hard decision. When I first started AIing three years ago I did the saliva test religiously. I don't think that ferning stuck around all that long. I wouldn't use it as your #1 reason not to try again. It's kind of like the smiley's you read the results and go from there. If you feel your cervix is still open and have some clear cm even if it's not all that stretchy go ahead in try again IF YOU WANT TO that is if not send them back for what we hope will be future children because sure hoping your one try did if for you :)

Are you temping? That is the only way I can tell that I ovulated (the temp rise). What day do you normally ovulate? Just because you have a 25 day cycle doesn't mean you ovulate early. You could have a short luteal phase, but ovulate "normal" around cycle day 14. Don't you love all of the stress? I never sent mine back...I figured the money is spent so I should go for it!
Good Luck. If you send them back, I would keep doing OPKs so you'll know for next time.

Thank you everyone, I'm going to hold out for another day since I still have stretchy cm and keep POAS and hopefully my smiley will show up today or at least by tomorrow. If nothing by tomorrow i will call about sending them back... at least that is what I am thinking for now but so confused, so who knows.... at least I did do ICI yesterday just in case...

I haven't been temping because I have poor sleeping habits, but I will start tomorrow- may not help, but can't hurt.

My smiley never showed up and we ended up doing an iui @ home yesterday because the signs were there. I still had another vial, so I went for it. Then last night around 11:30 I felt some O tinges on my right side so we went for it again with our secon vial! My cervix the second time was even more open and cm was perfect. Still testing but still no smiley. I could have missed my surge but I think I am just going to go with my body from now on. I am currently cd 14 of 26 day cycle. I wish I could be of more assistance but I think you should just go with your gut. Fingers crossed for you!

Fingers crossed for you too NVL! I'm going to go to the store today to get some line ones so maybe I can see if they are getting darker or lighter, to use in addition to my smileys since no smiley is showing up.

Since you are starting to get EWCM, I would go off this and CP/opening. Have you checked the opening?

I tried to check my cervix several days ago using a speculum for the 2nd time but ended up scratching my cervix when I was removing it and it was bleeding slightly from it so that scared me so I won't look again with a speculum. Now I'm checking just by feeling, and it is hard for me to tell since this is also the first week I've been feeling it. It does seem open, yet not as soft as it did a few days ago , but it's hard to tell...But I do feel "wetter" than I was at the beginning of the week, and cm is still stretchy, so I just don't know... I'm thinking that the stress is getting to me and that is why my smiley is late. Boy do I wish there was a better way to figure out my body! :/

I did buy more OPK tests, another clearblue digital one and then cheaper cvs brand ones that show lines, not smileys so maybe that way I could see if they are getting darker or lighter.
