order 1 or 2 vials for IUI??? (clomid & trigger)

Just wondering if I should order 1 vial or 2 vials for IUI being done at doctor's office? This cycle I'm on Clomid (starting today CD5-9)and will be doing a trigger as well. The IUI will be 36 hrs after trigger.

Normally the clinic does only 1 vial, but I'm wondering if I should do 2 to up my chances, or is it a waste of money since it I'm going to have an ultrasound on CD10 to check follies, and then trigger when follies are good.

This is the first time I'm using Clomid, or trigger, or getting ultrasound so I don't know what to do, however the clinic doesn't think that adding a second vial will really increase chances that much since I am being monitored this cycle....but figured I wanted other opinions from women TTC :)

Thank you.

Our OB only does one IUI with one vial per cycle...they have done studies and when an IUI is done, two vials or insems don't increase chances.
Timing is everything! Worked for us once to conceive our son and hopefully it will again this time around... :-)
    Good luck!

With a well timed IUI, there is no evidence that a second vial has any higher success rate. Using ultrasound and trigger, I would def just do one! :) it worked 2 out of 3 times for us!
After 9 yrs & 1 devastating loss, we got our BFP at 9DPO ~ and welcomed our beautiful son on Halloween! Best treat ever!!

We always time our IUI's around 24 hrs past +OPK. We don't trigger though and do unmedicated cycles, although with our son we got that BFP with Femara CD 5-9. We got 3 BFP's total using that timing, 2 miscarriages prior to conceiving our son.
    Good luck!

Angels - We are doing an IUI in June and I was researching your same question. While there are some people who swear by doing 2 vials (back to back IUIs), most of my research says to use 1 vial. So we've decided that is what we are doing in June -- 1 vial of IUI! Good luck!

The month we got our bfp was a clomid + trigger shot cycle, it was done 35 hrs past trigger in the RE office using 1 IUI vial. Although DP did lose the baby that is what worked for us. When/if we try again, it will be using the same protocol.
    Good luck.

Thank you everyone! I have my ultrasound on Monday morning, then if follies are ready I'll do trigger that night or Tuesday and have IUI 36 hrs later. After doing research that seems to be the protocol when using 1 vial.

I guess I will trust the doctors and whatever they tell me (and try to stay away from googling everything!)... I gotta say, it is a lot less stressful than when I did my own at home ICI and was monitoring myself and making myself crazy, between cervix, cm, temps, opk tests, etc... By being under a fertility doctor's care I no longer need to monitor anything... no worries about cm or cervix, no worries about opk tests, no peeing on sticks at all since I'm doing a trigger shot. So totally worth the extra costs of the doctor for me... at least while I still have any money left, so hoping it works to get my BFP!

I wish all of you the best of luck.... and baby dust to all *sprinkle, sprinkle, sprinkle*
