First Ultrasound

Hey all! I've been wondering this forever! When has everyone had a first ultrasound? Do they always do one to at least make sure baby is where it needs to be? If you're not being followed by a RE, do they still do one?

Most do around 9 weeks. I did one at 5 & 9 weeks. 5 week was because of past issues. Next time around I will just wait until 9.

I will end up with one at 5-6 weeks but that's only because I'm being followed by an RE and have also had an ectopic and other early miscarriages. I've heard most people don't get one until around 9 weeks.
6 IUI's resulting in BFN. 7th IUI was the fun one with pregnant...then not...then ectopic at 7 weeks...IVF #1 - miscarriage...IVF #2 miscarriage 5w6d...IVF #3 cancelled due to not growing embryos and pneumonia...IVF# 4 same old story...BFP then miscarriage...this is getting old...onto possibly Donor Egg or Donor Embryo

I had my first u/s at 7 weeks, 6 days, mostly because of my previous miscarriage. Everything thankfully turned out A-ok!! If you think you're having problems or something they can do one earlier to make sure the baby's growing in the right place and has a heartbeat.

Regular practice is to do an ultrasound around 8-10 weeks gestation. Generally you will only have one sooner if you experienced a prior loss and/or conceived with the assistance of an OB or RE.
