My OB appt today

It was mainly to just check my blood pressure, which was 131/95. So, I'm still having to come in every 2 weeks to keep that in check. I won't get another US until 16 weeks. And I was told that I will also have to go to a specialist that is in another town 88 miles away. They said I have to go b/c of my age, carrying twins, and my high blood pressure. I had a friend who had juvenile diabetes and epilepsy and she had to go to the same specialist. All they did was do US. My OB hasn't even done a US for me yet all my US were done at my RE. Guess this is a good thing, but feel kinda weird being told all of a sudden that I will be going there.

To be perfectly honest I am shocked they didnt send you to a high risk OB sooner.
My friend karin is 26 second pregnancy. Her first was an IUGR (intrauterine growth restriction) born at 34 weeks due to a bicornate uterus. This pregnancy they had her start out with the high risk doctor right from the positive pregnancy test. She said its total overkill but better safe than sorry. She gets an U/S every two weeks now then it will be weekly starting at 30 weeks!
I am comfortable with it now and know it is for the best of the babies.
16 weeks is way too long to wait in my opinion. But that is how most OB-GYN's do things - they keep you as long as they can, even though they are not really doing any monitoring.
I would call the peri and tell them that your pregnancy was after a long infertility struggle and required frozen donor AI and you don't want to wait around.
The drive will stink though! but they will do frequent u/s.... and it's not just to "cover their ass". In older women, women with risk factors (like high blood pressure) and with TWINS... they are not just looking at the babies. They need to frequently MEASURE YOUR CERVIX. Keep in mind that physical activity will thin the cervix and they will do the measurements to warn you when to slow down, start bed rest, or do a cerclage. The bonus is you will see the babies each time they check your cervix since it's an ultrasound
