I told this professor that I would post this here, in case there are any lesbian parenting couples in Iowa, Missouri, or Nebraska (or anyone who knows any). We participated in it a couple of weeks ago and she's very sweet. She is especially interested at this point in finding people who have not completed a second-parent adoption.

Participants Needed for Parenting and Law Study

Emily Kazyak, a professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, is conducting a research project to find out: 1) how same-sex couples raising children make decisions about whether or not to pursue a second-parent adoption or other forms of legal recognition and 2) how parents address their legal statuses in day-to-day interactions.

She is hoping to interview parents with a variety of viewpoints and experiences – including parents who have and have not done a second-parent adoption (or other forms of legal recognition). To be eligible, you must be in a same-sex couple and raising at least one child, and live in Iowa, Nebraska, or Missouri. She is hoping to interview parents living in a variety of places - including in rural, urban, and suburban areas.

She is recruiting people for confidential interviews that will last about an hour. Participants will be compensated $15. The Institutional Review Board at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has approved this study.

If you are interested in participating in the study or to find out more about it, please contact Dr. Emily Kazyak at ekazyak2@unl.edu or (402) 937-9057.
