I am 27 and going to try ici for the first time mid December. Not sure if to try 1 or 2 vials or should I do more? Timing? I am going to purchase the clearblue smiley ovulation tests, any comments, recommendations, or reviews for them.

When I was doing mine at home after getting my flashing smiley I tested every 8 hrs.if you use two I would do 12 and 36 hrs. But I am certainly no expert! Good luck

I am 27 too. I never had good luck personally with the clear blue smileys, and instead used the basic line ones. My last cycle I got my BFP. I usually use two vials. I have tried different variations on the timing. This last cycle I insem. at 24 and 48 past positive OPK. I also used the soft cups and kept them in 12 hours. Best of luck!

I won't give you any advice on timing. I struggled with that. But for me the best ovulation tests were Wondfo strips...inexpensive and accurate and I also used the Clearblue but for me the newer ones that give you that 4 day window..blinking and solid smileys were confusing. The Clearblue that just give you the one smiley at your surge worked great. You can still buy them.

Hi, I'm 29 and will be trying my first time in December too. I decided to do just 1 vial and time it as perfect as I can. This is only because my partner is pregnant with this donor and we would like to have the same donor for all our kids. Don't want to waste the stored vials. That being said, I think I would still use just 1 because of cost. But if neither of those things matter to you, then using 2 would be great to increase your window. Although research shows extra vials don't really increase chances.

Do you know your cycles pretty good? Have you been tracking? :)

I have tracked my cycle for 3 months. My cycles are regular, and this last cycle I believe I could pinpoint my ovulation fairly well with signs. For December I am planning to use ovulation kits to better pinpoint. I have never checked my temp though since I work nights and my sleep cycle is not steady at all. Just worried my cycle will change because I am ttc. I will have 4 vials available but wanting to conserve some vials for multiple attempts. Or I am lucky maybe a sibling. I have no know fertility issues, my mother and 2 sisters have proven to be very fertile but I do have one sister with pcos so who knows what my fertility is like. I will be doing this on my own at home.

Thank you ladies. I was fortunate enough to to be able to purchase vials from another member and now have more to work with. I have 1 Ici and 3 iui vials would be inseminating around the 15th. As I said hoping to make the first one stick. I would be using Ici method and still debating on one or two vials and if so which ones. They would be at 12 hrs after positive opt and 24hrs after positive opk if I use 2 or at 18hrs if I only use one. I know the iui has less volume so less sperm. Should I combine 2 of those? Try Ici by itself and save an iui vial for assisted insemination with an my doctor in case they don't stick?

I found it easiest/least stressful to use two vials per cycle, and use the clearblues that are just solid smiley vs. blank circle rather than flashing. I tend to think the timing is the most important aspect so I'd be more inclined to do two insems to cover a larger window rather than combine vials. Good luck!

Yes, I would use two and cover a larger window.
It's what I did and, although I didn't conceive, I felt good about having the two vials.
I'm also trying next in 2nd or 3rd week of Dec but I'll be going through my RE this time. I only tried twice at home but I wanted to (hopefully) up my chances and get pregnant quicker this way. And I was lucky to find a local RE with great reputation and who didnt turn me away bc of my weight. I'm 35 so I have less time than you do.
Hopefully we'll all get pregnant and we'll have lots of photos of September babies to oooh and ahh over!

i prefer 2 vials as well. it takes alot of pressure off to cover more time. I have gotten oe 2 times in past and both times I was a wreck because Id think i would ovulate then freek out cause I had pains or a darker test the next day. when I have 2 vials the 1st can be a oh crap that was bad timing but the 2nd is usually spot on.

with that said, my donor sold out and I only have ONE vial this cycle and freeking out. I so hope it works for both of us :)

I start testing tomorrow. Opk, it says to test after your longest sleep, would it affect it that I work nights? So I sleep in the day

I test like 4xs a day with the cheap strips and confirm a positive test with smileys. Better to test more often than to miss a surge.
