BFP Timing Survey

So I know this is probably one of the most asked questions on the board and I'm sure in some way or the other I've asked it before myself. I just read an article from an Arizona RE that pretty definitively stated that the most successful time for IUI after the HCG trigger is approximately 42 hours after trigger. With my natural LH surge my first doctor wanted to do IUI the same day. Both my previous doctor and my current doctor say 24-36 hours after trigger. I've done all three at some point in time or the other. In January or February I will have my last try. We are going to do an ICI vial at home and then an in office IUI. We will be using Gonal-F and Clomid. Temping doesn't work for me and I very rarely get ovulation pains so I really don't know when I ovulate after a positive LH or trigger.

So for those of you who have had a BFP and have used a trigger shot what was your timing after trigger?

Thanks and sorry for being a pest! ;)

I think it totally depends on the woman. Everyone is different. 42 hours would've been WAY to late for me. The first IUI I had was at 24 hours past +opk no trigger and resulted in a pregnancy that I lost at 10 weeks. The second IUI I did the trigger and insem at 29 hours after. My RE wanted me to wait for 36 but I felt that would've been too late so I just did the trigger so the timing would be right for me. I tracked my cycles with bbt for about 2 years so I know that I always would get a temp rise 24 hours after +opk.

Can your RE do an ultrasound right before the IUI to see if it looks like you are ovulating? I've not had this done but have heard others say they can tell by ultrasound if you're close or have already ovulated if done right before.

I didnt take any medications but I will say I had this question a lot as there are no concise answers. The cycle I got my positive we decided to inseminate right away...All the other cycles (unmedicated) we did it either 24-48 hours after the positive and i believe thats why it never worked--it was too late. But it worked immediately after our positive test.

I didn't use any medications but insemed at 8 and 20 hours past positive opk. I believe the IUI at 20 hours is what did it..... But I have no way to be sure.

I don't use a trigger but I inseminated today only a few hrs after positive opk because it had been over 16 hrs since my last test and wasn't sure exactly when I had the surge. Used Ici so if sperm hang around 24hrs then it could be waiting for the egg. Will do another tomorrow at 24hrs after positive opk I case my egg isn't released until 36hrs.
