Hypothyroidism?

So obviously I'm going to talk to my doctor about this, I go back to see my PCP on 01/05 but wanted to get some feedback. My maternal grandmother had hypothyroidism so it's a pretty close tie in my family. I've always been overweight, suffer with PCOS and have a really hard time losing weight. I just got my labs back from my physical from Labcorp and my TSH levels were 3.26. I know that is technically within the "normal" range but from what I'm seeing it's in the high end of the normal range."Normal Range" is 0.358-3.74 per my lab paperwork I went back and looked at previous labs and they are as follows:

12/11/15- 3.26
07/15/15-2.00
12/12/14-2.67
10/15/13-3.27
11/05/12-3.07

From what I've read (opinions vary) but optimal range seems to be under 2.1 and with the exception of 1 time my numbers have been higher than that. I'm just wondering if this could be why I'm feeling crappy and of course the bigger question of why I have not been successful in TTC.

I was told that tsh should be under 2.5 for pregnancy. I have hypothyroidism too and my initial readings were 4.8. I've been on medication since August and have been trying to conceive for almost 6 months. It can cause fertility problems.
Trying since June 2015 for baby #1. Took a break for 8 months and are trying again!

A TSH of 3 can definitely make you feel crappy. I feel like crap if I'm above a 1. Have you been diagnosed with Hashimotos? Most hypothyroid cases(90%) are actually an autoimmune disease called Hashimotos and this can be confirmed by running a TPO antibody screening.

My hypothyroidism caused infertility and I needed Clomid. Worked on the first try though!

This is a topic of interest to me and I am seeing an endocrinologist because my tsh is in the 0.01 range. They thought initially I had Graves but tested negative, thank goodness. I did test positive for Hashimotos. I had an unsuccessful embryo transfer beginning of Dec, and wondered if the thyroid or some other autoimmune thing is going on. I will be treated with prednisone the next cycle. My thyroid has been tested over and over and I don't fit the "typical" model. The ultra sound show 4 nodules that apparently are "hot", causing the tsh to be shut down. Gotta wonder what is going on. Even the specialist really hasn't given me any answers.

Thanks all, I got a letter with my lab results in the mail today and my doctor remarked that all my labs looked normal. With all of my issues especially in the reproductive department I'm not sure why no one is alarmed the results are in the top end of normal.

omg, so if you have a number thats too high what do you do besides meds to lower it?
from what I read, it means you have hypothyridism. so taking a natural L thyrosine seems best or iodine pills?

Im on iodine pills now anyway now but perhaps its too low. Im so ticked. 7 losses this yr with no one saying it had to do with thyroid

My RE advised that when TTC she wants TSH levels under 2.5, preferably between 1-2. She also likes to see TSH between 1-2 during pregnancy.

I take Synthroid when TTC and when pregnant because my TSH (without meds) is usually 3 or slightly above.

I would definitely discuss with your doctor or an RE.

    Best of luck!

So my PCP wasn't concerned about it and I called my RE's office and talked to the nurse who just wants me to come in and talk to my RE about it. I have a sneaking suspicion that he isn't going to care either, but I have an appointment with both him and my PCP on 01/05. We will see. I'm not in a hurry to have to take meds or anything but I've been overweight my entire life, I have a family history of hypothyroidism and I'm sick and tired of getting no where losing weight etc. and not to mention the thousands of dollars we have spent TTC to no avail. We will see what they say I guess!
