January IUI?

So for January I am thinking of getting an iui done. My OB doesn't do iui. So I need to speak to one of the other doctors in the group. I am having trouble deciding how I should phrase it. I have their cell numbers so I could potentially call/text them but that almost seems like an invasion of privacy when it has to do with me personally and I am not their pt. I could also set up an office visit and pay my copay so it would be 2 visits in January. Thoughts or recommendations anyone.

Obviously I don't "know" people who do IUI, but I will tell you for me it wasn't simply asking to have it done and they did it. I had an initial consultation, with exam, ultrasound, blood work, etc. Then I had to pass a psych eval with an approved therapist. After all that I was able to get the IUI. It ended up taking me a couple of months just to get through all the requirements (plus it was very expensive.)

The good points are that I felt very welcome and cared for at the RE's office, the stress of timing was out of my hands, and whether or not it works I know I can't blame myself for messing it up. Cons are the lack of privacy in conceiving your child, the cost, and the fact that if it doesn't work there is even more cost involved.

Not every OB is willing to do IUI, so maybe you could just casually ask if their office does them (assuming you don't already know that they do). If you indicate that you'll be working with a doctor when you place your order for shipping, NW will require that the doctor be registered with them (which can take a few days, depending how prompt the doctor's office is at returning the required form), so you may want to just say that you're not using a doctor if you're still having it shipped to you.

Oh, and I'd ask in person if possible, though I understand that may not be an option if there are always other people around. Otherwise, maybe call the office and ask, then if they say yes you can go ahead and schedule the appointment.

shoot, I was hoping it would be a faster process mommy2016. Hopefully not as many things with an ob vs a re. Red heather at least one of the ob does do iui that I know of, at least he use to. I really want to talk to him in person but I usually see him as I am walking out of work and he is coming in or after a delivery with others around. I guess I should hurry up and talk to him. It makes it easier and harder knowing them in advance. If I don't get anywhere in a week or so I will do another home attempt. Just not sure of exact timing.

I think my timing was off this last time. I felt some lower right sided cramping ~14hrs after last insemenation. which would have been ~38hrs after +opk. I don't remember ever having felt that before so either I am more in tune with my body now or just imagining things.

My insurance doesn't cover assistive reproduction so it might be a pipe dream while I save more money.

I'm not sure if you have help at home..... But my husband did and IUI on me and it was successful. I understand that some women it is hard to get.... But I am a paramedic and have a decent medical knowledge.....So I just showed him what he was looking for (my cervix) and explained to him what he had to do. So we did it at home. I was a little bit worried it would hurt.... But I honestly didn't feel anything.

Very true! I didn't get pregnant but my sister did mine.
She's a physician so I trusted her but she had never done anything like that so it was up to me to tell her how far to insert the catheter.
I also did one myself, it was a little hard to get the right position to see my cervix while holding the syringe but I got it done.

it seems like we could provide the physical support for each other in addition to the emotional support. I wouldn't be able to do one myself either, but would probably trust most of y'all to do one. There have been times that I've almost suggested this, but didn't want to freak anyone out. Ha- while I'm at it I should post a Craigslist ad!

So I messaged the other ob in my doctors practice. I am suppose to bring the sample 1 hr before the appt. as long as ovulation is regular then no testing needs to be done. Only a progesterone level the month before iui to confirm ovulation

That was the impression I got but I ovulate on a Sunday in February and am on vacation in March around ovulation. To top it off I ovulate during his surgery day this month. Poor doc I bugged him all morning through messages. He finally said he would look at my chart tomorrow and let me know what he recommended. I might have to do another home cycle or wait til April or June.

It's going to happen!!! He just called me back and said he would be in the office 15th, I arranged to mail vials to clinic and he will store there. Now I just have to make the appt but they are closed already. We will do progesterone level the 22nd.

I just confused myself. Fertility friend says I ovulate 14 but every other calendar states 15th. Wish I knew for sure if I remember they did have appt for 14th but limited spots 15th. Doing opks

It's okay, day 13, 14, 15 could all be right. Do you know which day you usually ovulate in prior cycles? My cycle has always been day 15, and this time around it was day 16 lol. On day 15 I was so nervous because I hadn't received a positive opk, I tested my opk all day of day 15 lol. Finally the morning of day 16 I had a positive opk. So the night of day 16 I did my insemination. The morning of day 17 my temperature had risen. So even though it was a day later than usual, all the signs seem to be perfect.

Just make sure you are tracking everything you can so you'll be able to feel more confident knowing it's lined up as best as possible :-)

Appears to be cd16. Usually 30 day cycle except for last month which was 31 so makes me wonder if that would throw off my cycle. I sent my little guys to the clinic this Time around. My worry is they won't be able to fit me in if I don't pinpoint it. Md knows it could be either. I might just see if I can schedule both days and just cancel 1 day before if I don't get + opk

1st high fertility opk, last month I had 3 days of high fertility before I got peak. If this month is the same I ovulate 14th. I hope they still have that appt available.

I got a peak ovulation opk today wasn't expecting it till Wednesday or Thursday so ordered sperm to arrive by the 13th at the latest. Last month I had 3 high fertility days before peak. This month I got 1 high fertility day and then peak. Last month sperm arrived in 1 day. They managed to squeeze me in for tomorrow with a different Doctor since the one I was going to use is out of town. This cycle might be a bust.

I don't understand. I had a high fertility day yesterday, peak fertility today on clear blue advance reader that I had used last month. Now I wanted to confirm so I got the reader from the new box and it says low fertility. Could it be because I tested only 2 hrs apart?

It is usually a baseline on the reader for the first try. Try it again.

Iui scheduled 27hrs after positive opk from 8am this am.

Good luck! My successful IUI was about 27 hours after OPK+.

When I retested still low fertility. I called clear blue they said to stop testing and go with peak result. Since the second tester would only show peak if level was higher than 40 otherwise will take my hormone levels as a baseline. The original tester is suppose to have picked up a % increase in my hormone levels.

Thank you. We are going to be cutting it really close appt 11 and sample arrived in town 830 so hopefully being delivered as we speak.

I ended up having to reschedule appt for 1 since swimmers didn't arrive by original appt. called ups and they said it would arrive by one. Did a mad dash a few streets over to pick up swimmers and have them to clinic by noon. Now waiting till I can go into my appt in 20 min

All this hassle because my body decided to ovulate 2-3 days earlier than expected;)
