What would you do - trust smiley or ewcm?

What would you do, inseminate when there is a lot of ewcm or when the smiley tells you to?

My problem seems to be that I have a lot of ewcm about 1-2 days before ovulation. Last month, I had ewcm on day 11 and 12. On day 12, I got my smiley in the late afternoon and by the time I did the ICI insemination in the evening, I was almost dried up. Not sure when ovulation happened, but needless to say, it wasn't successful.

Now I'm wondering if this month I should take a different approach and do the insem earlier.

    Overall I have leaned more heavily on the signs my body gives rather than OPKs alone. I know how many questions and variables come into play while TTC! Hang in there!

    I also wanted to add that I'm on my 3rd pregnancy and with each BFP I opted to AI on the earlier side. Twice before I got a positive opk. The other pregnancy right at positive. Everyone can be so different, but I consistently ovulate right when I get that +. We wanted the sperm in there hanging out.

    I agree I'd go with your ewcm. I know it's hard trying to decide.

    I would also agree and say go with ewcm! Fx

    Thank you all for your replies! They were very helpful. I think this is what I'll do - go with ewcm. I haven't tried that yet.

    EWCM...definitely! I never get a smiley until I am pretty sure I just ovulated. I bet if you took a lined test, it would be positive.

    Everyone's body is different. For my body, using the smiley worked better as I'd get EWCM for days before the smiley. The smiley wasn't perfect because sometimes I'd get a smiley and then no smiley later in the day, and then it would turn smiley again the following day or evening, and that would be the more reliable indicator. I do think that if you don't have plenty of EWCM at the time of the insem and are doing ICI, then preseed really helps.

    This BFP I never got a positive OPK! I went with my body's signals--EWCM for days, cervical position and texture, and O pains all lined up and we inseminated without a positive OPK. I was nervous for sure, but just one vial and no OPK, and we got a BFP! It's converted me to relying on your body's overall combination of signals, rather than just OPKs alone!

    Ok, so I got my smiley this morning. I also did the line test and there were two lines, just the second one wasn't as dark at the control line. Yesterday I had stretchy ewcm, but very little and only for maybe a couple of hours (once when I checked). But today I don't have stretchy ewcm, just a little bit of wetness. What should I do? I'm totally confused. Shouldn't the stretchy ewcm still be there today?

    Update: I ended up buying preseed because I felt like I don't have enough ewcm this time. I did one ICI 10 hours after smiley and the other one 25 hours after. Hoping that the preseed was enough since it doesn't get into the cervix and the sperm still have to swim through that.
