Introduction and Considering donors 6279 or 1586

Just a little introduction and some info about us. I'm 35, so is my wife and we live in CA. We started this TTC journey last year in April and I will be the one (hopefully) carrying our child. I had an HSG done, all clear and no blocks. We did 4 medicated IUIs with the assist of an RE but all turned out BFNs. My protocol was Clomid days 3-7, Menopur days 8-9, then trigger 36 hrs before IUI. The Clomid did absolutely nothing for me however other than thin my lining. I produced only one follicle for each of those cycles on the Clomid. My RE said the next step would be doing all injectable cycles which I think she said would be Menopur days 3-9 and then the trigger. I'm not sure on this entirely though so those of you who have experience with injectable cycles please feel free to chime in. Any input would be greatly appreciated. :) Well, injectable cycles are quite more expensive than the combo cycles we were doing which were already costing us $435 for meds and $545 total for all RE related visits (consult, day 1 u/s, day 9 or 10 follicle check, IUI and sperm prep). Not to mention the $890 we were spending on the donor sperm with a different cryobank. We have Kaiser CA insurance and they cover 50% only for anything related to infertility. Our RE then mentioned to us, however, why not get dual coverage?? Luckily my employer as well as my wife's both offer Kaiser ins. We had noooo idea this was possible though. But apparently, according to her this is a thing. So I added Kaiser ins at work and I'm still covered on hers. Next month we go back to the RE with dual coverage and will be doing our first all injectable cycle and I absolutely cannot wait. My projected AF start date is supposed to be Feb 2 but that varies these days. Now we have to decide on which donor to pick. We're leaning towards 6279 as my wife is Hispanic and he's really the only Hispanic option at NW. We also like 1586 though because of my same blood type and the strawberry blonde hair. Last year I really wanted to go with donor 2812 but now that no longer is and option. :(. Oh the decisions... If anyone has had any luck with these donors please let us know. Any info or input would be greatly appreciated. :)

Welcome. I would recommend doing a search for the donor number to see if any posts come up. Most of the time people do not share which donor they have used(from what I have found). Good luck!!!

Thank you ahk00! :). That was my next step. From what I have noticed so far is not much info is given by others regarding which donors they have used. Good luck to you too.

Thank you. I am not using either of those two. I am not sure why it is such a secret. Every child will be unique to their mothers as well as the donor. :).

I used 1586 for 3 rounds of at-home ICI in 2014 but didn't have any luck with him. He stopped donating for a while, so I ended up switching donors when I started with an RE.

we used 6279 for the same reason, because my wife is hispanic. we were using another donor for a long time with no luck and then got our bfp first time with him! (ivf but still) if you do a search for his number you will find a couple looooong threads of people who have used him with pretty good luck, and some pictures of 6279 babies! (mine are in a post I made a few months back for ds' 6 months). buena suerte!!!
got our miracle BFP on first IVF after 3 years TTC. DS born may 20, 2015 after emergency cesarean. all are doing well and trying to figure out this new journey!!

I had a chemical and 3BFNs with 6279. I had my heart set on him, but my RE suggested I switch to an rh- donor. Good luck!
Luca Gabriel was born 10/25/17 at 34 weeks, due to PROM. He's healthy and perfect! I'm in love!
