For those who have done FET

Holy smokes, the RE wants $4800 for the FET, another $2000 for laser hatching, and $800 for embryo glue. We cannot afford that much. For those who did a FET, did you do laser hatching? Do you think this is necessary? I am inclined to do the embryo glue only because we used it last time, and conceived our daughter. I don't think either of us thought it would be this much - plus we paid $800 for meds. We are 20 days out from the FET.

Wow. That seems very high. I have never heard of the glue but was offered assisted hatching if I wanted for my fresh cycle. I am inclined to do so as it helps w/ implantation & the hatching of the egg. But I wonder why they would want to do both as they essential do the same thing? Did they give you a reason for why they wanted to do both?

If we get to FET, down the road, it will be $3500, no hatching, no glue, no laser. I think we'd have to think about how many embryos we have when we think about how serious to get.

    What meds are you doing?

I have a friend who has undergone many IVF/FET and also said this seems very expensive. I made a mistake, the FET is $4200 not $4800, but still... She said to call the RE and request a discount, so we will try it. Our 1 embryo is a day 6 blastocyst, so shouldnt it already be partially hatching?

Old Momma, laser hatching is when they use a laser to break the shell of the embryo. It can assist in implantation, especially in older women (over 37). Embryo glue is a sugary substance that they use to "stick" the embryo to the uterine wall. We used the glue last time, and will probably use that again.

Well, my wife called to ask for a discount and they are waiving the $2000 fee for laser hatching!!!! This makes the FET much more affordable. I am so glad my friend suggested this.

I am doing another cycle in May. He is very good to me, as I'm a frequent flyer atm... assisted hatching with embryo transfer just 1900. I don't know if its laser though. Never offered glue, maybe i need that...
