Nausea and diarrhea

This is my first post on this side of the forum. I'm only 5.5 weeks along and today got hit by full-blown pregnancy symptoms. I was fine in the morning, but suddenly this afternoon I felt nauseous and got diarrhea. Has anyone of you experienced diarrhea that early on? I don't know what is best to do.

Nausea every time and early. You'll have to experiment to find what works for you. For some of us sour or minty helps.Dry crackers or cereal bland foods..actually even if you don't feel like eating if you can get some down you will feel a whole lot better. I haven't had the diarrhea only opposite constipation. Either call dr or research there are some of those anti diarrhea meds pregnant women can not have. Hydrate as much as you can even if it is sips at a time and I wouldn't worry too much if the beverage is all that healthy as long as no alcohol...everyone has to find what they can get down. For me anything has to be super ice cold. It will help both problems in fact you can end up hospitalized if you get dehydrated.

I had terrible diarrhea and nobody else seemed to! And it was on and off my entire pregnancy! So don't worry, totally normal.

I had the loose bowels at times too but then I stayed constipated for months.
the nausea, I guess you just have to let it run its course. I did the unisom at night (half tablet) and b6/b12 combo when i woke. worked pretty good. I didnt puke although I had moments every day that I wanted to.

Thanks for all your tips! After I posted this I threw up twice within 2 hours. I really hope this is an exception today. I had no clue what morning sickness is all about until today. I still haven't had my first prenatal appointment. I think I will research a doctor tomorrow.

I had horrible nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and migraines.....hang in there. I found having a small amount of caffeine (A cup of tea) when my headaches were getting really bad helped. I also tried to eat a lot of saltines, rice, bananas and toast. That helped with the nausea/diarrhea.

Just wait until you don't poop for two weeks. Haha .. But seriously.

I had a couple bouts of diarrhea. I read it's normal. I agree with previous posts to stay hydrated. Citrus and sour and help nausea, but whatever I craved I just ate .. Something is better than nothing. Hang in there, hopefully it gets better.

After throwing up four times last night I remembered that as a kid I was always given Coke for an upset stomach. I normally don't drink Coke and am usually pretty health conscious, but I was desperate. So I drank Coke and it helped the nausea. Nothing else had worked, no ginger tea, no plain water, nothing. But the Coke helped. The side effect was that I couldn't sleep last night.

Thanks okaybaby for this suggestion. I'll have to see where I can find it. I'll definitely try that.

Haha I'm actually really interested to know!!

They should have it at any grocery store. I only recently heard about soda for upset stomachs.. Like within the last week. I've always heard ginger ale, but not just regular like coke. Interesting you brought it up.
