Edema at 27 weeks

I am finding myself with some pitting edema of my lower extremities/ feet that just started in the last week or so. It's a bit alarming, although I know that swelling is normal in pregnancy. My hands are affected, too, but I'm not really sure how much of that is the carpal tunnel syndrome I am experiencing in my hands. This pregnancy is more challenging than my last one, I must say! :-) But of course, that was 19 years, so I guess that's to be expected. I was 20 when I delivered my son and I will 40 when I deliver this baby.
Anyway, I am wondering if you guys think it warrants a call to my OB? I don't want to bother them, but if I should get checked out just in case, I suppose I need to know that. I could just wait to see if other symptoms develop, however. I am more curious right now than seriously concerned, so I was just wondering how you other ladies handled things.
TIA! :-)
