Oy! The sickness!

Any tips on how to fight "morning" sickness that lasts all damn day long? I'm 9w5d and I feel like I'm starving myself because every time I eat something, I lose my appetite or throw it up. I'm constantly hungry, but I'm honestly afraid to eat. I've lost 3lbs this week. Like wtf? Lol! Despite it all, I'm still very happy to be pregnant. ❤
Baby #1 Erin 35 & Michael 39 (Met 3/98, Married 6/13). TTC since 10/08.

Find the one thing that works and eat a little of it constantly. I lost ten pounds the first trimester and food is still not my favorite thing.
I found that I had a few good hours mid day, so I made sure to eat well during those few hours. But pretty much the rest of the day and night I barely touched food.
For me, peanut butter on toast worked in the morning. That was the only thing I could tolerate, so for four months that's what I had for breakfast. For dinner I had salad with ranch dressing. Every night. For four months.
Finally I would say around 18 weeks I could eat "normally" again.
Saltine Goldfish were super helpful. Handfuls of nuts were often tolerable.
Try to find what doesn't make you sick and just eat that.
    Good luck!

I am not far along but because of fertility meds and now progesterone I have had awful nausea. I have an aversion to food or feel starved but eat a couple bites and gag usually. To help a little not having your stomach completely empty helps...I have been trying to graze...grab a bite here and there. I have been craving ice cold water so keeping hydrated helps a bit too. My daughter in law ended up getting on a prescription med. from OB. It helped her tremendously. I know how you feel and I hope things improve for you.

I took a vitamin B-6 supplement (as part of a B complex), and I had very little morning sickness. There are some prenatals that contain a higher amount of B-6, so that may be worth a shot if you don't want to take a separate vitamin. From the research I found, though, it's safe to take a B-50 supplement during pregnancy (B-100 is getting into the iffy range).

Oh, and I also found those "preggie pops" were fabulous. The sour candy, although I thought the sugar would be gross, actually helped settle my stomach.

I used peppermint essential oil on m wrists & temples & chewed peppermint gum. With the twins I was nauseas from the time I woke up until I went to bed. Those are the only two things that helped.

I really dislike the term morning sickness. Mine was never just in the morning but was an all day affair lasting from about 6 weeks until 13 weeks. I think I pretty much lived off of green smoothies with a scoop of protein powder, vegetable broth, and popsicles for both of my pregnancies. It's strange but popsicles really were my saving grace food-wise (I think it was the cold aspect that helped negate the nausea). This time around I did end up taking diclegis (basically a combo of 50mg B6 and half a pill of Unisom) which helped me avoid the major weight loss I had in my first pregnancy - I only lost 5lbs this time instead of 17lbs. But it totally knocked me out whenever I would take it. Preggie pops were also helpful but my nausea would return within minutes of me finishing the candy. Fortunately, my symptoms seemed to magically vanish once I hit second trimester.

Thanks for all the tips!! I bought preggie pops today, and also have been drinking ice cold water. I'll try the b6, I've heard that before. It's just so bad. There are less hours in the day that I feel ok than there are otherwise.

i get SUPER sick wen pregnant and you tend to not be able to remember what you should try...
b6 at 25mg and b12 at 25mg helps. I even did b6 at 100mg (it only heled some) my saviour helper was unisom
I take a hald tab before bed and one mid afternoon. I could eat and barely had any nausea :)

NOTHING else worked except maybe sea bands.

I second half a unisom tablet. It's the same active ingredient in diclegis. Add some B6, and it is homemade diclegis.

I found that I had to eat whatever I was craving, and sometimes that would help with the sickness. My midwife also prescribed B6 twice a day. Nothing really helped me much except zofran, which I was reluctant to take. After puking everyday for most of my pregnancy I finally caved and took zofran the last 6-8 weeks. I was so sick of puking and being nauseous. For me though all the crappy pregnancy symptoms I had instantly went away the day I delivered. Hang in there.

Also a good friend of mine had horrible Hyperemesis. She found that nothing else worked except Benadryl. I'm not sure how you feel about taking medications though.

Thanks for the suggestions. It seems to be tapering off, was not nauseous at all today and only threw up once yesterday. I'm hoping this is it and I can finally enjoy being pregnant, but I'll be sure to remember this post if I'm just getting a lucky couple of days. :)

Has anyone tried the preggie pop drops instead of the popsicles?

That's actually what I got, they seem to do the trick, at least for a little while. :)

Ok I'll try them. I bought b6 and unisom to Tahir together but I'm not going to take either until the RE says it's OK.

The sea sickness bands from Walmart worked for me. I didn't have horrible nausea, but the days it happened that helped the most. And small meals. The Preggie pops were also good, but didn't last long.
